Now that you have gained all the knowledge and skills that the combined AIDA freedive courses have to offer and are inquisitive for more, you can take things a step further and start helping others do the same.
The AIDA Freediving Instructor Course is a highly intensive course and is usually run over a 9 to 14 day period depending on the number of participating students and involves nearly 40 hours of instruction. The course is taught in a group usually comprising of at least 3 freedivers where each freediver will by the end be expected to teach skills selected from each of the AIDA freedive courses and make a presentation on at least one chosen freedive topic. Although all the performance requirements must be done with bi-fins we also expect each aspiring instructor to be able to demonstrate strong skills in all disciplines including competence in the use of the monofin.
However, apart from the physical requirements of each student the objective of the course is also to guarantee a minimum level of personal performance from every instructor, to promote an understanding of the ethics of instruction, to increase their personal knowledge of freediving and to familiarise each instructor with all the AIDA courses and procedures. A freediver completing this course will have to prove competence and endurance in all the required disciplines and techniques and and will be able to comfortably dive to 40 meters and manage breath-holds of over 4:00mins.
There are only a few dedicated AIDA Instructor Trainers in the world who are responsible for training new instructors and by remaining only as one or two in each AIDA national country the intention is to maintain a rigorous selection criteria to keep those high standards. In the AIDA system there is only ONE passing level of first level Instructor who will have had to meet all the pre-requisites of depth and teaching skills.
Maria Teresa is the ONLY Instructor Trainer in Mexico and one only of two or three on the American continent.
Prerequisites for the Course:
